The battery capacities of 2018 iPhone lineup-- iPhone XS, XS Max and XR-- have been revealed. While Apple never shares the actual battery capacity in mAh officially, the company has to disclose them to clear the certification process in China. Apple has shared the battery information with the Chinese authorities as this is mandatory and with the new iPhones being cleared for sale in China, the actual battery capacity is now out there in public.

The Apple iPhone XS Max is powered by a 3,174 mAh battery while the iPhone XS and iPhone XR are backed by 2,658 mAh and 2,942 mAh batteries respectively. The iPhone XS Max has the biggest battery that Apple has has ever put inside an iPhone. On the other hand, the new iPhone XS has a smaller battery when compared to the iPhone X which has a 2,716 mAh battery. Despite the new iPhone XS having a slightly smaller battery, Apple claims it to offer an overall 30 minutes longer battery time than the iPhone X. Having said that the iPhone X offers an hour more talktime when compared to the new iPhone XS.



The 3,174 mAh battery in the iPhone XS Max is claimed by Apple to offer 1 hour 30 minutes of additional overall battery time when compared to the 2,716 mAh battery of the iPhone X. In real life usage, Apple claims that the iPhone XS Max offer three hours additional talktime and two hours extra video playback.



As far as the design and looks are concerned, the iPhone X looks exactly similar to the new iPhone XS. On the other hand, the iPhone XS Max is just a large version of the iPhone X. As far as the cheaper iPhone XR is concerned, the form-factor of the iPhone X is retained with a larger 6.1-inch and a single lens camera at the back. The display quality of the iPhone X and XS is exactly similar while the display of the iPhone XS Max is just bigger but the overall quality is same.
